Hi,
I just received an unsolicited PM from someone I've never dealt with, offering a service unrelated to any purchases I've made.
It looked like a copied & pasted bit of text (i.e., wasn't personalised for me in any way) so I assume it's gone to more people other than just me.
I am new... is it normal to receive PMs like this on SR? I didn't think there was much scope for harvesting usernames and automating copy/pasted PMs in some way.
Let me know if this is odd, or if you guys think I should just ignore it or whatever.

Nah I got one too. and it's the first I have ever gotten. Synth hash my ass..

I feel like breaking into a Monty Python song...

LOL, I was a huge fan of Monty Python when I was a lad.
If this is being automated, it's a problem which could be addressed with a 'type the letters you see in the picture' thing when sending PMs.
I've suggested it in the forum for suggestions... I suppose if the admins think it's a problem they might look into it...

I got that SPAM too...

Yeah I got it too. I was like, wow really? Am I really getting spam right now on SR? Kind of funny but I hope it's not a new trend.
-
I doubt this will be a common problem :)
Lets hope so!
